AC not blowing cold as it should
Now that we are in the 80s in GA I'm running the AC consistently for the 1st time since I bought the car. Today it felt like it was not blowing near as cold as it should be. I reached over and the passenger side vents (being occupied by my wife) were blowing a good bit colder than the center/driver side vent.
This means the system shouldn't need recharged right? If it were low it would be low across the board. I thought of the blend door actuator but I can roll the temp to hot and it gets very hot, went I dial it back down to cold its just barely cool. So I know the door is moving, at least from its current position to hot. What else could it be? I wanna get this fixed sooner rather then later bc it's only gonna get hotter. Thanks.

I just had the same problem. But do the checks. the vacuum line behind manifold make sure it is connected, trace line under battery make sure it isn't broken or leaking. When you turn AC check the Acumulator and low pressure lines and make sure they are cold. Check the codes see if door actuator has failed. Sometimes you won't get a code. Put unit in manual and dial up temp on drivers side and down again. If gear is broken in actuator its going to get hot and not cool off. The early C5 's were really bad about this. The door actuator will need replacing on drivers side. ($138.95 at O'riley's) I removed front seat to replace mine so I could get under dash, remove lower panel's and bose stero unti above gas pedal. The unit has three 7/32 screws holding in place and wires. Disconnect battery before doing any parts removal and don't brake any parts. Will take couple hours of aggravation.

How'd you clear the code? I don't think it's the actuator bc the temp gets hot and cool as I adjust the hvac. It's just not cold. Are there any how tos on adding freon?

When battery is disconnected codes will clear . When the codes are cleared and battery reconnected door actuator will reindex itself. I did mine a couple of times but just would not get cold as it should have and after a few hour in the auto setting it would start blowing hot air again on drivers side and cold from passenger side.

If you got code b0361 in the hvac codes door actuator is bad. By the way I have a 1999FRC vette and all of the problems that come with it.( tire sensors, fob problems) only 31088 miles on it. There is a post about the Freon charge the system takes only !.5 lbs Freon . to get it correct the system needs to be emptied
completely and recharged with the correct amount.
completely and recharged with the correct amount.

I bought a recharge kit from advance and changed my freon over to the r134 on my 93 s10. Directions were pretty straight forward, still cold after several yrs. I bet u r low on freon. Make sure which freon u have. I don't remember what yr they changed over to the enviromental friendly r134. Hook freon bottle to low side l believe while car is running with air on max, squeeze trigger on can until gauge reads the correct value for vehicle. If it is low it will get cold pretty quick and u know u got your problem solved. My kit came with a. Video how to disc. Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

Should be R134.I think there may be a decal on it that tells the charge amount and type.Almost all vehicles after 1994 have R134.

Look on the decal near the overflow rad tank and it states it. I just looked at mine and it states r134. I dont remember what yr they changed but as stated above, u can't buy the other without an hvac license.
