Default Should my switch lights on the door panel stay on?

Probably a silly question but I just bought an 04 z and noticed tonight in the garage that the LEDs that light up the window switches, mirror switches etc stay on even when locked. Is this normal? I couldn't find anything on the forum about this.

They're lit indefinitely. I am currently in the process of putting a new hud module in and so the entire dash is out of the car and the brightness control is unplugged sitting on the shop floor till the new module arrives.

Am I correct in thinking these shouldn't be on all the time? I know LEDs don't pull much but I would think they'd drain the battery after sitting for a prolonged time.

If half the dash is out, I think I'd disconnect the battery.

Turns out if you plug the gage pod back in the lights will go off.

The lights you mentioned stay on briefly before "timing out" after a certain time. They then begin to slowly dim before finally extinguishing.

Your driver door module is bad. It is what powers and controls the switch pad lights. The BCM sends a signal out to various modules like the HVAC to turn off and the individual modules then are to take action.

Saw this same type issue with an HVAC unit last year. Had to replace his unit.

If you're still offering opinions, read his reply.

Overlooked the info on the IPC resolution somehow. Not sure how that would affect the doors only and not anything else. There is so much one just cannot get from the FSM. Obviously it has an affect and I could postulate why but I don't think I will if he has found a solution to his problem.

PS: Also edited my previous post. Somehow I thought it was only his driver door he had an issue with, not both doors. Never would have postulated two identical door failures at the same time. I guess I'm just getting old(er).
