Did you make sure the reverse lockout solenoid is still plugged in? Mine disconnected during a hard 3-4 shift and I couldn't use reverse after that.

Yes, i can get it over but it just won't stay in anymore. Grinding popping and not engaging.

You have to start from the rear no matter what for disassembly. Put the motor side on saw horses between to boards to split the input shaft. Reverse is inside the extension housing. So you won't have to pull that much apart.

You'll probably need to read this manual before diving in.

Good luck. Let us know what you find. I don't recall hearing much about reverse going out.

It seems to happen a lot as you get up there in miles. I've had two Corvette T56s with that problem now, and my friend's had it on his LS6 CTS-V.

Forgot one thing. You will need the gasket that goes between the extension housing and main case. It can only be found at Tremec or the GM Parts department. Tremec would be my choice because it's a battle for the parts guys to find it (at least in my experience).

Don't use RTV you need this gasket to keep the correct end play.

Need help i took reverse apart out, had ever thing in order as i was taking it apart and my neighbor came over with has dog. The dog hit my table where i had all the parts lined up and all my parts hit the floor and all the parts went flying. So my problem is that the manual shows 10 pieces and i have 12 pieces and i can figure out where two pieces go. Is there a diff manual for our trans 6mn?????? i will get a pic, im not home but the part is a very thin bushing and it doesn't show in the manual. Any help Cammin if you have time or anyone thats done this before might remember where these two parts go. 708-244-1409 thanks I can send text pic to show parts.

I'll be glad to help. I sent a text to that number.

You could call Tremec and see if they will send you a service manual.

Just called Tremec. They said Corvette T-56 is GM specific. So I'm hitting up my buddy that's a GM mechanic for the service manual.
