Default Collecting Telemetry - ELM 327 - OBD II

Froggy47 has been helping me via Private Messages and his inbox is full, but our exchange might help others (and me) so I'm taking the discussion public ;-)

I am trying to use the cheap ELM 327 device to bluetooth to my android phone for gathering vehicle telemetry. I'm using Harry's Lap Timer. All of the bluetooth items are in order and the ELM 327 I am using works on my 2003 BMW so it at least functions in some capacity.

There seems to be a possibility that the 2004 C5 uses the CAN protocol for communications where prior years use the SAE J1850 PWM protocol. Froggy47 has a 2004 and is having success with his ELM327 devices. I have a 2003 and no joy.

Anyone else have a 2003 and older C5 with a working ELM327?

Thanks again!

Tim
