Default A/C poor cooling blend door or compressor?

I have a 99 hardtop with the manual A/c system.

I have 65 degree air blowing out of the vents. In 90 degree Florida this does not cut it.

I had my tech evacuate system, change the oriface, check condenser and compressor and refill with correct amount of 134 and oil.

For a few minutes all seemed well then my high pressures were slightly higher than normal; and the low side was high in the 50-55 range.

These pressures were about the same before the system was evacuated.

Compressor was changed a few years ago and is clean and seems to be working fine. When oriface was removed, tech said system was clean.

Condenser has no debris and seems be be working as it should.

Technician does not know if the problem lies in the bend door or if their is a problem inside the compressor.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Locate the BLEND DOOR ACTUATOR and observe the range of motion. There is a pointer on the shaft and a range on the actuator.

Make sure it goes full cold.

Might also try and have the tech install a "Variable Orifice". it will help make cooler temps and also stays cooler at idle (when not moving). iirc i found them listed for the vette at Autozone.

Also make SURE that you are in Recirculate MODE to get max benefit from the cooling.

Does anyone know if the blend door is stuck if the pressures will be higher than normal?

Had dealer fix the problem.
Dealer replacer dryer, replaced one of the pressure tubes, fixed vacuum leaks and loose connections inside dash. Expensive but air works as it should.

Dealer also did a recall on steering column wiring harness while it was in for service.

Do you mean the recall for the column lock issue? Unless they installed a smaller diameter locking plate then what they did IS NOT a permanent fix.

If you can turn the steering wheel with the key OUT and the wheel locks then you have no CL fix just a worthless recall.
