Default "Matching" Key Fobs

I bought a second key fob and therefore needed to "match" both the new and old fobs (2000 convertible). I followed the directions in the Owner's Manual and when I got to the step where :FOB TRAINING" is displayed, pushing the Reset button yields nothing (the DIC does not display "HOLD LK + UNLK 1ST FOB" does not display).

Am I missing something?

Many thanks

Are you holding the reset until the message comes up? Not just pressing, holding?

Yep, I held it for over a minute with no results.
There may be a timing interlock that I'm not adhering to

I don't think so. A few seconds should be enough. Did your old fob work before you started? Does it still work now?

When I purchased the car a month ago, the only key fob that came with the car was only able to open the trunk. it appeared that battery was going in that fob so upon replacing the battery in that fob, I couldn't get the fob to work at all. I bought an additional fob from GM and figured I would "match" them both to the car at the same time...that is where I ran into this problem.

I then ran into the problem stated herein in another thread as "Snooring in the Back Seat".

I'll work with it some more but I may have to take it to the dealer where I bought the additional key fob to have them match it (and the old fob).

Thanks to all who tried to help me solve this problem...it's a great forum.
