Default C6 Zo6 rear brakes as C5 Front brakes ?

i have a 99 C5 and was looking into getting some rear C6Z or Grand Sport brakes to mount up front...

would it bolt up to the front spindles ?
what rotors would i need and will it still clear the stock wheels or aftermarket 19s ?

any input would help thanks ...

I'm curious as to why you would want to put rear brakes on the front?

Are you looking to go smaller for some reason?

the C5 front Calipers are still smaller than the C6Z and GS rears calipers...

so it would still be an upgrade considering i may even need a bigger rotor..

The C6Z rear rotor is 340 a touch over 13" which may fit under a 17" wheel. The down side is it is only ~1 inch thick (26mm). The factory rotors are 32mm.

If the caliper does not accept a thicker rotor, I'd go with a C6 Z51 setup which gets you larger rotors or 6 piston Wilwood setup that uses factory dimension C5 rotors such as the LG kit or maybe a 4 piston AP T1 kit that runs factory rotors. The autox classified had a set for sale.

Even if the Z06 rear caliper does accept a thicker rotor the price of custom Coleman rotors would likely eat into the cost effectiveness of the swap. I do like the idea and had to research it.

I'll play devil's advocate here and say don't overlook a 13" complete kit. Sure it's not going to fall into the "couple hundred bucks" price point (yet maybe far less than you think) the nice thing is that you could swap out the rotors (often called 'rings') from 13 to 14" later and use the same system still if you opted for 18" wheels later.

I'd also look at the caliper kits offered by KNS and see if that would help you. I believe they offer it in 13".
