Oil pressure reading HIGH
I was on a road trip in our Vette's with a friend Friday when he pulled over on the side of the road. He has a 2002 coupe! He indicated that his oil pressure spiked to over 80 and while we were looking it over it went up as high as 96 while giving it gas in neutral. Otherwise it seemed to be running fine so he drove it home some 30-40 highway miles and returned it to the garage. On the drive home it ran fine other than the high oil pressure reading. I have a couple of questions:
1) Are there any other probable possibilities or concerns other than the oil pressure sensor?
2) If it is the oil pressure sensor what would be a reasonable repair cost at a repair facility? I don't believe either of us are competent enough mechanically to take this on ourselves.
3) How common is it for the oil pressure sensor in the c5 to fail?
Thanks for any insight you are able to provide!

This is a frequent enough problem, (the oil pressure sensor to fail) that there are innumerable threads on this site on this topic as well as the three different methods to replace the sensor, other than going to the dealer. Search on here, or use Goggle (much better).

Time for a new oil pressure sensor, easy fix. Even if you decide to pull the intake manifold.
