A true octane booster?
Anyone know of a real octane booster and it doesn't leave deposits on pistons-valves ect? Ive heard of KLOTZ=anyone tried this?

I have been using VP Racing Fuels Octanium in my Harley for about 3 months and there is a definite seat of the pants performance improvement. I don't any dyno tests results yet but there is a noticeable difference. I have not tried it in the Corvette yet.

And just why do you want an octane booster? Can't you find 93 "premium" gas where you are? Are you expecting higher performance or more power from higher octane?

but xylene is 117 octane and available at home depot
2 gallons of that or 10% would make 92 octane roughly 94.5 to 95 octane

Octane sucks
As a Professional Chemical Engineer, I have to remind everyone that Octane (C8H18) has LESS energy than an equal amount of gasoline. Never use more Octane than necessary to suppress preignition or you're on the downside of the power curve.

Only 91 in vegas--I get alittle ping in hot weather--im going to try KLOTZ octane booster--doesn't leave crap on pistons ect--1 ounce to 1 gallon of 91 brings to 93.5 octane-

Octane is both a rating and a molecule. With petroleum based fuel does only octane increase octane rating (resistance to auto-ignition)?
To the OP e85 is great if you have access. I'm in AZ and e45 mix performed very good in the summer.

I'm curious... from a chem point, how would you loose power with more octane assuming the tuning is good? I can see 2 effects, but they are negligible in my view.

higher octane fuel burns slower thus allowing you to start the spark earlier BTDC, increase compression or increase boost
if you do none of those you will lose a slight amount of power the higher the octane gets.
alcohol blends are another angle all together and have a cooling effect on intake and combustion temps. in a boosted car this can by itself be great for power as turbo cars often suffer heat related issues

I was under the impression that the car compensated for ping and knock.
