No start,Help! battery good, electrical connection?.........
2003 Convertible, battery checks "good".
Voltmeter connected to engine ground & 12V power on fuse box power connector.
When trying to start, DIC & interior lights dim out completely, but dash gauge lights stay lighted and hear fuel pump & Voltmeter as noted above stays around 12 volts. And "no start"!
Something is loosing power to "everything" else.
Also tried +12 volt connections at alternator, and both #1
see power. #1 stays "high", when trying to start, so it is not a loose connection to it (coming from the starter terminal).
Checked that the headlights stay fully powered when trying to start.
A thought (dangerous for me): Could it just be a failed starter, and those circuits DIC & interior lights) would "normally" turn off when starting?
Edit:
Answered my own question: The shifter cable is broke or unhooked. Automatic trans shifter is "way" too loose, and feels like it is not connected. So I "assume" that the park switch is not engaged........
Thanks,
Plasticman

All fixed by using the Dorman / Help brand 14041 bushing (2nd from the smallest) on the shifter cable (shifter end).
Followed the directions previously posted here on the forum.
Thanks,
