Default Hood slams closed in small breeze

I'm new to the forum although I first came on in 2013. I have a real nice 99 that I like to show, but the hood won't stay up in the smallest of breezes. Is there an easy fix.

The best of both worlds.....

I didn't like my hood 100% in the up position, and didn't want it closed either, but found good use for my stainless steel (chrome look) 18" breaker bar on the driver side. I slip the handle end down in a recessed area where the engine bay meets the windshield, at the side, and the 1/2 inch adapter side up in the opening on the underside of the hood. Always looked good enough for me.

A 24" breaker bar looks just as nice and gives a bit more lift.

Struts are made by a company called StrongArm - Google "C5 Corvette StrongArm" and you'll find numerous sites that sell them.

Default Thanks

Thanks for all the good advice. I will replace the struts and a chrome breaker bar just to keep it partially open is not a bad idea either.

Be careful of locating the bar at the windshield base as I broke a windshield by doing the same idiot thing!
I would find another way or forget it !

Use a piece of PVC conduit cut to the right length and slit to put over the strut rod. Put the right width of slit in it and it'll pop on and off fairly easily.

Thanks for the warning. I ordered new strong arms, I'll stick with it full open for now.
