Default Type 4 Brake fluid: ATE 200 or Motul 600?

Pretty self-explanatory subject line-- Do you all favor ATE or Motul?

Motul is almost twice the price. How much fluid will I need for a complete brake flush?

Thanks, Gents!

I don't think you can go wrong with either. I use the ATE for the same reason you mentioned; I think it offers the best performance for the money. I like the ability to switch colors so you know you've flushed all the old fluid out.

Unless you are doing HPDE's the ATE would be the right choice. If you are doing them then the Motul would hold up better under the heat generated from a 20 minute session with all the hard breaking.

I've used ATE for years in my track car and it's always worked for me. Unfortunately ATE has ceased production on the ATE Blue now so you don't get to play the two color game anymore.

Did they cease production or did the DOT tell them they can't sell in the US because of the color. That would be DOT watching out for us because we wouldn't otherwise know it is brake fluid.

I have seen cans of Super Blue for sale with an "off-road use only" compliance sticker on them. There was a big scare when the DOT made that ruling and prices jumped, but I think it's still available.

I have also road raced with the ATE fluid and never boiled it, but don't have firsthand experience with it in a Corvette on track.
