Default Installation of GM part number 19244028: steering column lock

Hi members:

I bought a GM kit 19284028 to install on my 2002 coupe that has had some steering lock issues. Unfortunately, GM didn't bother to send installation instructions and I have been searching the web trying to find something. Can somebody out there help with the installation of the GM part?

Thanks!

I'm not familiar with that part, but there is probably something in this thread: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ky-please.html

Good luck with your fix!

That part number supersedes part number 89023816 (K harness). I think it goes under the steering column somewhere as opposed to the after market "CLBs" that go on the body control module but I cannot find an illustration to be certain of that.

K Harness is a complete waste of money. Your money and time spent resolving a C5 Column Lock issue would be better spent ordering and installing an LMC5. Google " Compliance Parts ". JMHO

You would do well to take this advice. 8VETTE7 is the recognized expert in column lock issues.

The "K harness" is a GM failed fix for the column lock problem. Purchase a LMC5....easy install and is a permanent fix.

Thanks 8VETTE7. I suspected that might be the spot. We'll give it a try since I already have the part. If it fails, I will do the LMC5 per your suggestion!

I just yesterday installed an LMC5. Very simple, three connections in two existing harnesses, and all located in the passenger footwell (as opposed to taking the dash apart).

Got mine here

video instructions too if you want them.

I also did mine on Monday.
Paper instructions are very detailed that come with it, which I love.

Seems like a no brainer. I would not wait to install the LMC5. It's peace of mind when starting the car. If your harness fails, who knows where you will be stranded?

agreed, my k-harness failed after 10 years, lucky I was in my driveway.

I ordered the LMC5. took 30 minutes to install.
