Cam install! but smoke??
Hey guys! This week I got my new cam installed and dyno tuned with HP tuners/wideband/street, etc. Runs like a scalded dog. But one question, is it normal to have a slight hue of smoke that smells like raw fuel ONLY at idle? Here is a vid of the car with some visible smoke.
cam specs are 231/242 - .617/.592 @ 112+2 LSA

PS. It dyno'd 421 rwhp - 398 rwtq SAE

It's common for a cam that size to stink at idle. I don't think a slight wisp of smoke is anything to get alarmed about.
Did you replace the valve seals with the cam install?
Does your oil smell like gas?
Do you have fresh high quality synthetic oil in it?
Have you had anyone follow you around at different speeds, load and rpm to double check the smoke?

My car smells at idle on cold start, not to much when warmed up. No smoke. I am running a tsp 228R 114 lsa, a little milder than yours. Did you ask your tuner about it?
Maybe some guys with similar cams will chime in.

Burning Brakes
A cam with a lot of overlap and no cats can and will make your eyes bleed at idle standing behind it but should not be having any blue smoke. That is oil burning.

The blue smoke is burnt oil. The fumes/odor is fuel. If you can live with the smell, drive it. You could put cats on it, but that would be a temporary fix. They won't be effective very long.

Looks like a possible valve stem seal leak to me.
When you installed the new valvesprings how did you install the seals?
PS Ive ran catless and tuned cars with 252/260 621 615 109+3 cams on 370CU in Iron blocks that dont smoke like that.
