Not familiar with this item so can't comment. A lot of owners use Techron fuel system cleaner as mentioned above. On sale this week at Advance Auto Parts. $12.99. BOGO (buy one get one).

We sell lucas at my work. I hate when customers ask me about it because I always tell them to skip it and go with Techron. They appreciate the honesty but my boss gets mad and wants us to push the lucas.

I have used Lucas injector cleaner in the gas with good results, although to me its more of an upper cylinder lube rather than an injector cleaner. When I want to specifically clean my injectors, I throw 1-2 bottles of STP fuel injector cleaner in the last tank prior to an oil change (this blackens the oil). The Lucas injector cleaner probably pays for itself in fuel savings if used every 2nd tank, plus it quiets down the lifters. The main issue with it is carrying flammable fluids around in the vehicle, and I have already had the bottle leak in the box of my truck. For this reason, I no longer use it regularly. The fluid is a good candidate as an additive it is available at gas stations in a quantity suitable for one tank fillup, the main issue is availability and safety.

It may very well not be the lifters although the Lucas upper cylinder lube somewhat quiets the noise that is often described on chat boards as LS1 lifter/valvetrain ticking, the same way leaded gasoline lubricated in older engines. Carbon deposits must be getting dissolved with the STP injector cleaner and washing into the oil. Neither of these are added to the oil, they are added to the fuel tank.
