Default 97 C5 cincinnati area 3.42 questions

I have a 1997 c5 and am thinking of installing an A & A supercharger. However after talking to them last night he explained to me why I should change gears from the stock 2.73 first. So anyone recommend someone in the Cincinnati area to do it or where I can get the differential? I would kind of like to do the work myself to learn how to. I did a 6" lift on my Jeep in the garage myself so I imagine dropping the IFS in the rear of the vette would be about the same. Any help would be appreciatted
