Is 24 PSI at idle normal for a Z06?

I'd check it with a manual gauge before I got too concerned. The sensor are bad to fail, but usually high (80), I don't remember if it was the owner's manual or another GM book, but it said normal was down to 10 at idle. I've never seen 10 at idle, and if I did, I'd be seriously concerned. Google C5 oil pressure and you'll get lots of articles to read.

This was in the pic from a 03 Z06 that's FS. Must have been at start-up just for the pic of the mileage.
Less than 2K miles.
Can someone check their manual to see if low as 10 PSI is normal per the manual. Yeah I'd pass on it if I saw 10 in the pic of a car FS. Manual or no manual.

In addition to oil pressure, RPM and oil temp needs to be taken in consideration. Oil temp is key. I can see at least 5 psi difference between 200 and 230 degrees at idle. The oil pressure is more than 40 psi cold. Not coolant temp, oil temp. If stock with no tune the idle RPM should be the same for most of us. I think my idle is around 750, but I have seen vettes idle around 900 with a tune. There is also significant difference between 750 and 1000 rpm. My 97 is old at 187k miles and I see 22-23 psi with oil temp at 200 idle 750 rpm. As soon I press the throttle its starts to climb and goes to 30+psi at 1500 rmp oil temp still at 200 degrees. I get 40 psi at 2000 rpm cruising on the highway with temp still at 200 degrees.
I think what the manual says about being ok at 6 psi is just before we ear engine crank knocking noise.... When my vette idles at 15 psi at 200 degrees, I will consider a rebuild or at least changing the rod + main bearing and oil pump...
There are good posts where folks post the oil pressure on the forum.
Pic from 97 sm. The LS-6 in the z is the high-output, tuned version of the standard LS1 Corvette engine. I think the oil pump, crank is the same, so below picture might apply. Expert to step in.

I just looked at the 2003 owner's manual, it says 20-80 lbs is normal???? And as low as 6 lbs under certain conditions such as extended idling in warm temperatures is normal.

He's not going to know much about the car. He thinks his 03 Z06 is the 50th Anniversary EDITION.
Will inquire what he put in, when he took pic, next time we talk.
thnx guys.

All your talk about the oil pressure and idle speed is meaningless as YOU DID NOT PROVIDE THE OIL TEMPERATURE. The oil pressure decreases dramatically when going from cold to hot at the same RPM.

My stock 18,000 mile 2001( ls1 same short block as ls 6 in 01), has 29 psi at 600 rpm idle. Oil temp 200-205. Its how I tell if its ready to make a pass. Don't like higher rpms with out 200 degree oil. 5-30 mobil 1 always. Yours is low at 950 rpm idle, imho, what is it at a steady 2500 rpm hot 200-205 temp? Should see 50 psi. Ron B.

OK I will request that temp reading. I was looking at the pic of the instruments and the temp gauge is not in the pic. The car is FS with less than 2K miles. 11 years old now. Allegedly sitting in climate controlled facility (summer cooled but not winter heated) (30* winter nights are rare in FL so no biggie on not being in heated winter storage IMOP).
Besides the oil PSI, infant mortality on this 11 year old car is my concern. The car is presented as virtually new. Would U buy a new car w/o warranty? This virtually new is without. And we know the 24+ issues with C5's over the years. Especially with lot rot (not suggesting this is one but U get the drift). Also not saying at all that I should have a warranty. I know any potential issue is on my dime.
I was reading from another older thread where a member suggested @ 20PSI and below would cause a service engine notice. He suggests that the relief spring in the pump weakens from sitting so long. (that was not in answer to this car). And another suggested 'O' ring rotting out from sitting. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=2974025
Hey, there is no oil temp to be read on the dash. Is there?

I assume the dealer is asking a lot of $$ for this new car. You could probably get a nice c6 with service records for the same money. You could also get a different c5 with records for less money and get a good car.
I would not trust the dealer to report to me oil pressure readings. If you want that car, I would ask them to change the oil and let you watch them put fresh Mobil one 5w30 in it. Then road test it. Get the oil up to temp and check the readings for yourself.

Back and forth went to 29 a few days ago. Called him today at closing time & he remembered me. Says he may have a buyer. Told him good for you.
Could be the old dealer trick. Will see if/when he calls. If his alleged buyer evaporates, I'll have a local buddy member check it out. My guy knows his stuff. I originally saw the reading in the pic taken by dlr.
I got two more immediate Z's in mind. Any of the 3 will work for me. They all have their + and -'s

Select gauges on the Driver Information Center, (upper right hand side), lets you check temps on coolant, engine oil, trans, voltage etc. Ron B.
