Default C1243

99 coupe with a service abs and traction control. It gives me a C1243 code for a stalled ABS motor. I want to try and "exercise" the motor using the jacking method I've read about in the forum. What is the best way to jack the car up without stressing the driveshafts?

To exercise mine I use a dirt road near me that is smooth and straight or I go out after a rain when the road is wet. I try to do it about once a week.

Is that what you do? I would be afraid I might flat spot the tires. Maybe in the rain?

Hard braking does not mean for you to lock up the brakes.

I actually have a metallic red 1999 coupe and I got the same message. I jacked it up from the rear and did the "exercise" procedure. As soon as the car got up to 9 mph the light went off and has never come on again.
Somewhere I have seen a picture of acceptable jacking points, I'll see if I can find it.
BTW, where did you go to high school? I graduated from 71st.

I went to high school in Pa. I retired from the military here in Fayetteville and never left. How long ago did you exercise your car?
Thanks,

Mike

It's probably been 5 or 6 months. Car has 76,000 miles and is never driven hard.

You can jack it up under the rear crossmember; the axles won't droop enough to cause any stress running at 9-10 mph for a few seconds.
To be extra safe when jacking, move the jack saddle a bit to the left or right of center to get it under one of the strengthening ribs on the cross member.

OK What us exercising the car? I to received the ABS/Traction control light along with the same code. I go to the DTC and reset the code and lights go away. Should there be something I should do to keep the system fresh?

Apparently the motor quits working from a lack of use. Try this thread.
