Default LS1, LS2, LS6 oil pans

Hi All -

One more question for you this morning, in regards to differences in oil pans over the years.

I have a 97 C5, which has an LS2 in it. From what I can tell, the LS2 was installed using the original LS1 oil pan.

I know that the LS2 has a different pan from the LS1 and LS6, since it doesn't have the larger ("batwing"?) extensions on the side.

My question is, do the LS1 and LS6's, 97-04 all have the same pan, or does the LS6 have an improved design over the LS1?

The basis of my question is that many of the C5Z T1 guys have run wet-sumped with their LS6 for years, whereas the LS2 proved to be immediately fragile because of the poor oil pan design. So, interested to find out of my LS2 is in better shape because of the (better) LS1/LS6 pan, or not.

Thanks all,

-Jake
