Default C5 Hood Struts

I purchased what I thought is a high end aftermarket hood for my 2002 C5. The hood flexes at the hinge area when I close the hood. My goal is to reduce this flexing. Are lighter duty hood struts available? Source? I think this will help.

Thanks.

I think I understand what you are saying, that when you reach up to the cowl end of the hood and pull down it flexes where the hinge/struts attach.
So first, assuming that the struts are the originals, after 13 years they are probably worn and going with a lighter strut probably wont make a difference, or may even fail to keep the hood up.
If you close the hood by pushing down right over the hinge/strut area does it still flex on the way down?

I had similar problems with an aftermarket hood that was not braced as well as stock hood, got replacement hood struts with half the force of OEM. Solved my problem. PM me if you want WEB site to vendor I used.

The original struts are in good condition, strong.

Then take a shot with the struts mentioned above by Winnipeg, or maybe consider adding some bracing to the under side of the hood if feasible or not too unsightly. Good luck.

I have seen people remove one of the hood struts and only use one to hold the hood open... what hood did you get by chance?
