Default LS3 water pump on LS1 question

I'm building a new engine and my orignal plan was to swap all my asseories from my LS1 to the new engine. I've read that the LS3 water pump will bolt up just like the original LS1 water pump. What I'd like to double check is if anyone had any belt alignment issues. I'm also installing the Procharger P1SC from the LS1 to the new engine. I'd like to use the LS3 water pump because its a little lighter and less rotational mass as well. I realize its not huge difference, but if it will work without any issue then thats great.
Thanks

what size rib belt are you using?... the newer style pumps use a pulley with a much smaller width and if you use larger 8 or 10 rib belts it may not work due to the belt being too wide for the pulley

Default belt width

I'm using the the 6-rib belt for now and unless I get belt slip I will stay with that size.

The LS7 pump has the same reduced rotational mass, a heavier bearing, and more clearance if you ever go to a FAST manifold and larger throttle body. Bolts up the same and you can use the LS1 upper hose.

It will bolt up, but the upper hose outlet is on the driver's side, requiring a different hose. It also has a 16 mm threaded hole on the driver's side, which is plugged. Might be useful for temp sender relocation, etc if needed.

LS3

LS7 ('09+), LS3 and LSA use it.

LS2- Use the LS2 pump and no changes are required, and it too has the lighter weight pump pulley.

Also used on the early ('06-'08) Z06 LS7 cars.

Default LS2 water pump

Thanks for the great information. I'll be ordering the LS2 water pump. No problem with the belt/ pulley alignment correct.

Correct. "Plug-n-play"

I believe it (ACD) comes with new gaskets as well. If you see any signs of corrosion on the six mounting bolts, I recommend wire brushing them and then applying a thin film of anti-seize compound. Gaskets go on dry of course. You'll also now have a separate conventional style thermostat.

Pretty decent pricing on Amazon.

I purchased a water pump from a 2008 same as the ls2 style for my 1998 c5. I still need to order or buy a belt tensioner. Which one do I need to order to use with the later style water pump? will a c5 tensioner work or do I need to order the c6 tensioner? The tensioner bolts to the water pump. Right now I don't have any tensioner to try is why I am asking.

AFAIK, your C5 tensioner will work fine.

Just stumbled on this, but when I had the P1SC, I had to go to C6 tensioner as it was stronger and help reduce belt slip. Hope it is not too late.

LS7 ('09+), LS3 and LSA use it.

LS2- Use the LS2 pump and no changes are required, and it too has the lighter weight pump pulley.
And the 2008 LS7 is an LS3 which uses ADCDelco part #89018052 which fits perfectly and can use the LS1 hoses. The 2008 LS3 pump is superior to the LS2 pump in that it has a larger bearing, less rotational mass, and provides more room for aftermarket throttle bodies.

The same pump is used as the base replacement for all LS2 and LS3 engines pre 2009.

So the LS7 has the same benefits over the LS2? The LS7 also has the larger bearing, less rotating mass & additional clearance like the LS3 has over the LS2? If it includes a t-stat, what temp?
