I was looking at nitto 555 295/45/18 they are 28.30 in tall . Do you guy's think they would fit without rubbing 18x10.5 wheels. The 99 frc is not lowered don't want to lower it but want to fill the wheelwell. Also was thinking 255/50/17 on front they are 27.09 in tall on 17x9.5 wheels. I can't get the front lowering bolts loose anyway !!!! What do you guy's think .

I have 28" Hoosiers on D10 Bogarts for sale:
Pic on car with other rims, these are 15" wheels
Haven't had a chance to run them yet so I don't know if they'll rub, it doesn't look kike it but might rub - was intending to spray with them and see what happens but will probably just run N/A in the fall.
Who knows... I might run a 1/2 mile or something

I have the MT 305/45/r18 ET Street R radials and I have no problems, depends on the wheel ur mounting them on. I used a Mr. gasket 5/16" spacer on my 18x10.5 C7 Z06 wheels, have done a few launches with them and been over 100 mph, no issues. These tires are 28.8" tall so you should be fine, I also have 2 Nitto 555 295/45r18 coming tomorrow I am going to mount for on another set of the same wheels for street use. I have 2 Nitto NT 05 275/40r17 I am going to mount on front. Will know all by Sat, good or bad!
Decided on MT ET Street R 305/45/18 on 10.5" wheels. I thought I did enough research to get them right. I mounted them and they fit but really close to the liner on the front side of the well. You said they fit and ran with no problems. I don't want to chew these tires up my first time out - will I need modifications to run safely?

My car is a 2003 vert 6-speed with twin disc clutch, SC, 1 7/8 LT headers, x-pipe, Methyl injection - makes about 560 at the wheel. Using standard size Pilot Super Sports, I ran 11.790 ET on my second time out, but couldn't put the power to the track.

Which suspension do you have? Are you lowered at all?
I'm lowered about an inch past what stock bolts allow and my 27" R888s rub the front of the liner sometimes. If you're putting 29" tires on, your best bet is to be at stock height and you may still have to remove/modify the wheel well liner. The liner is easily removed if all you want to do is run those only when you go to the track.
A 29" tire is a lot of tire if you still have 3.42s and are focusing for 1/4 mile times. If you still have the 3.42s, you'd be better off with 305/35/18s.

Thanks for the info - sorry about jumping the thread - I'm new to this.
I have a stock suspension, not lowered. Sounds like the best bet is to remove the liner for the track. I am a casual drag racer and will only use these tires for that.
I've now read a number of posts that indicate these tires are not a good combination with the stock rear gears. I am not sure I want to change them since I plan to use the car for both HPDE and some autocross. I am not worried about being competitive in those areas; more concerned about ET at the track.
Thoughts? Again, thank you for the info.

If you're not lowered at all, you have a better chance at getting them to fit, the other thing to watch out for is your wheel offset (or if they stick out of the fender). The guy above got them to fit without being lowered using a stock 18x10.5 C7Z06 wheel with a 5/16" spacer.
If it were me personally, I would not use those tires. They will change your gear ratio enough to most likely make you slower at the strip. First gear will basically end at 60mph and you'll be in 3rd up to about 120mph, making you shift into 4th pretty much at the line. I don't think 560whp is enough power to justify that tall of a tire.
If you want drag specific tires for 18s, look at a 305/35/18. If you want a cheaper, and better, drag setup, I'd personally grab a set of 17" front Z06 wheels and put a set of 275/40/17 DRs on them. 275 drag radials are plenty of grip for 560whp, the extra sidewall will be a tad more forgiving in putting the power down, and that puts your gearing back to "stock"; shifting out of the 3rd around 106mph and in 4th until about 140mph (leaving you some room for when you bump your power up more).

I started the thread , if your not making good WHP (1000whp neighborhood)id stick with a 26” tall tire , if your a manual car id stick with a bias ply tire also ,,( more forgiving on drivtrain) if your just doing it for looks and still have a stock tranny in the car you are gonna have to remove the inner fenderwells and brake ducts ,, my car was runing a TR6060 tranny with RTK offset mounts wich moves the tire back to center of wheel well , i was also running coilovers So i didnt have to remove
