Default My 87-yr old Mom wanted a ride - Lets Rock!

They were visiting this weekend and Mom surprised me - "Hey - take me for a ride in your vette!" No problemo mamacita! I used both arms to carefully lower her in and I went to the other side. She joked "I even wore my Bill Cosby Italian racing scarf for the occasion!" We had a nice ride and she was happy to see that compared to some of the rougher cars I've had in the past this one actually drives nicely and has some creature comforts. When we were done she said - "You know - it wasn't as rough on me as last time" - this is with the Corbeau A4's in place. She said "These new seats have a little more give in the butt" - if she likes the fit then that's the only approval I need. She amused herself playing with the squeeze bulb for the lumbar support.

When I took my 85 year old mother for a ride in my then almost new 2002 M6 coupe, her only real comment was "Why does it have all those gears?"

Great story. Glad she liked it and takes an interest in your cars.

Quite a long time ago my mom drove one of my cars (a 421 ci 4 speed '64 GTO). At one traffic light she didn't quite have the clutch and throttle matched so she spun the tires. What I remember most about it was she said "Oh my, what was that noise".

Last month my aunt turned 100. We were going out to lunch and she said she didn't want to ride in my Corvette. She used to like sports cars, but now she can't get in very well. I just hope I am doing so well at 100 (or even still here).

Good Stories! Cherish these times while your mom is still around. I can't remember my mom ever riding in any of my corvettes. She died at a fairly young age. But when I was younger I took my grandmother for a ride in my 71 coupe. We were on an interstate highway cruising along at about 90. She looked over and stated how nice the ride was. She could not see the speedometer. She was about 75 at the time. It is a good memory now.
