You provided the answer to your own statement..
The factory Z51 pads dust pretty bad.
If you have a Z-51 C6,, take a close look at the drilled rotors and see if they are not full of brake dust.
I had to use a drill bit and unclog each front rotor (by hand) after about 25,000 mile.
Looked at my Eradispeeds today. No sign at all of clogged holes - they have been on about 40k miles. I guess it depends if you buy cheap or good......

I've had TPS Motorsports slots on my 02Z for 5 yrs. With them I use Hawk HPS pads and Goodridge SS lines.

It's a good UG from stock.

has more to do with pad material. a performance pad will dust and will wind up in some of the holes. low performance pads like ceramic are so hard there is no dust and thus no accumulation

a decent street pad like the hawk hp+ or the older axxis ultimates would coat a drilled rotor

I bought drilled slotted from a forum vendor. I like the looks.
I used EBC green stuff pads.

The rotors are wearing faster than the pads!

Another vote for TSP. I have the dimpled and slotted on my 04 vert and couldn't be happier
