I did not think he could hurt it

The valve hit the top of the piston, bent the valve stem and pushed the valve seat out. Do I have to take out and replace the piston or maybe the walls on the top of the piston thick enough to not have to worry.

I had a LS1 motor that I had piston to valve contact in. Put similar eye lashes in the pistons. I just used it as an excuse for new heads. Made over 500 rwhp with that motor after. You should be fine with new set of assembled heads or fixing and resembling current heads. The only thing is my eye lashes were a little smoother than that. You should be fine.

Yeah that's fine/better. People even notch/cut pistons on purpose in that same area.

After discovery of the bent I took out the rocker arms push rods and then read that they needed to go back to the same spot. How critical is having to put them back in the same order. Do I need to buy new push rod, rockers and lifters

If you are getting a new bigger cam and having the heads worked get hardened push rods and after market valve springs. If your cam isn't anything crazy. I have had good luck with Comp cams 918s. Also I think the stock push rod length is 7.4. Again if the cam isn't anything crazy you can use that generic factory length. Just make sure they are hardened. You aren't getting the heads milled or shaved right???

I would also recommend drilling the lifter trays for better oiling. You can get away with the stock lifters depending on how tame your new heads and cam setup is.

It depends on what your budget is. you may want to upgrade rockers too depending on your cam. If its not in budget as you stated its not ideal but you could get away with losing the order but somebody else may have to chime in on that one...

Same question here - rev limiter should have prevented this.

Rev limiter won't stop a mechanical over rev.

The story, my son went to a interview at my work for a job and had to wait till I finished at the office. He was board so I took him outside and drove with him around the building taking off stoping and doing the take off again and again. He knows how to drive automatic car. Just recently changed the clutch so I though it will take another student. I have 257000 miles but we'll maintained.

I get a lot of crap from freinds because I let my 24 year old son drive it and now the 18 was learning.

Ok, I'm going to ask the question. How many of us let our siblings drive our car

That's cool, and that's exactly what my father did with me, when I was 10 years old, and he had a '62 Corvair Monza, with a 4 speed.

But again, how did driving in the PARKING LOT lead to bent valves?? Did his "education" include how to do "full throttle hole shots"???

I honestly don't know how it happened. I had an hour to go at the office so when I finally came out I see him coming and the car is sounding terrible and even smoked a bit. When I got in it,it was misfiring and even wanting to stall. And I got P0300. So I got it home and did a compression test on the cylinder and got 0 compression on only that affected piston.

If you redline third then slam to 2nd instead of 4th, or downshift 5th to 2nd instead of 4th, no rev limiter is stopping anything...valve float will occur...piston contact will occur.
