Which Power Steering Fluid of Choice Do You Use?
I am finishing up my balancer replacement and have to refill the Power Steering System -
I want to know which fluid you have used or prefer - ( I have personally used the GM fluid)
Thanks,Matt

I use Mobil 1 synthetic ATF as do a lot of other track guys. One of the AMsoil reps also mentioned that the qualities of their ATF was better for the PS system than their power steering fluid. But this was for use under extreme conditions. Also, the Mobil 1 is much easier to find. HTH

I picked up whatever was cheap at the auto parts store. Any real benefits of the high temp stuff?

At times it is and you can chose which you would like to post in or not post in -
Not everyone comes to the Tech section and a lot just hang out in the Tech section and rarely go to other sections - so it don't hurt when you want answers
What PS fluid do you use?
Thanks,Matt

Redline; also in the engine, trans and rear end.
I think it is a good idea, no matter what fluid you use, to take a syringe and suck out and replace the power steering fluid at every oil change.

easy enough to bleed the system. pull the return line, stick it in a 2 litre pop bottle. tape it up have someone turn the wheel left to right while you add fluid.
return line is simple as hell to disconnect it's right on the fill bottle
a good deal of pressure spurts out when you do this so make sure the bottle is held/supported

I make sure to meet the GM spec on any lubricant. IF it doesn't have the spec on the label it probably does not meet the spec. There are different fluids and they make a bid difference on wear and seal leakage.

Valvoline power steering fluid is my choice. I've researched this to death and came up with Valvoline as the best fluid for GM power steering systems. A lot of people like to use autotranny fluid but I do not believe it is a good thing to do. To each their own but our steering systems were never designed to run on tranny fluid. Why take a chance?
