What On Earth Is This Wire For?
Heya guys, I would really appreciate it if you guys can help me find out what this yellow wire was for. My pops and I were changing the spark plugs in the C5. The former owner had Champion Platinum spark plugs, and the engine didn't run real smoothly. We threw in NGK Iridiums and the car is more responsive and seems to run smoother. We ran into one issue though, and that is this...
We were putting on the "Corvette 5.7L" plastic shield things on top of the engine when I noticed the yellow wire dangling there. It was loose before, but I remember it being connected to the fuel rail somewhere. My pops and I took off the plastic shield thingy and noticed these two things.
I remember that the yellow wire went somewhere into the fuel rail location. I have no idea why. The yellow wire stems from the foot-well area. Please read the description in the picture above.

Dayyuuummm. That's some hammer and brick backyard work; whatever it is, it's "aftermarket".
And is it me, or is that a second braided fuel line!? Mine is an LS6 on an 03 z06. I've only got one braided fuel line. Is the second line OEM on a different configuration?

definitely solder and heat shrink those connections, I cannot believe that someone would leave those bare like that... actually I can believe it but seriously, wtf!... might as well double check everything else under the fuel rail covers to make sure nothing else is hacked... trace that yellow wire back and see where it is hooked up, most likely it was just used for an aftermarket gauge, alarm, remote start, etc that is no longer there

LOL you guys are the bomb, seriously. The comments are funny, yet serious to me at the same time. I know little about the LS1 engines so far, but I'm getting my way around.
It is truly amusing how some people can do a job like this and seem to be proud of it. The car is equipped an aftermarket remote key fob thingy, and I remember seeing the system down there where the wire seemed to be heading (towards the foot-well). I taped up the exposed fuel rail wires, and I may get back in there one day and actually cover 'em up in a secure manner.
So the engine in there is definitely a 1997, or a 1998 block and nothing past that correct? The reason I ask this is because the guy dropped a lower mileage motor in there, but wasn't sure of the year of the motor. I've been trying to find out the year of the motor.

I would get those injector wires fixed ASAP especially since you are already there... you say the car ran a big sluggish, well that could definitely be a reason

Purchase some liquid electrical tape and repair the wires with that. A few coats and the wire will be good as new.
Who ever did that to those wires needs a good whipping. Make some hickory switch welts on his ***...
I wonder what the under dash wires look like????

Bill that is an upgraded version of the FLUX-Capacitor... I know it looks small compared to the one installed in the DeLorean... but, technology just keeps marching on

I agree with you all, it's shoddy work. Quite hysterical as well!
I'll be re-organizing all of this soon, including the foot-well box and wires collection I just pictured. I also vacuumed out the wiper tray. There's quite some work that needs to be done to the 'vette, but nothing serious. I'm glad to be part of a community that's easy-going and cool to hang around, thanks for all the help yall!
