Default HELP - My C5 wont start / crank :(

Can somebody give some advice ?
Started with my ignition switch was bad (bad connections), so I replaced it.
After that the car would not start anymore.
Tried to put the old ignition switch in again, still wont start.

Battery is ok, 12.62 volt.
No codes.
Fuse 14, 50, 52 OK
Replaced the starter (that was my first guess).
Replaced the Theft Deterrent Relay.
VATS is deleted (resistor) - also tried to disable it in HP tuners.

It's clicks, but wont crank.

I have tried the 3 x 10min re-learn, but the security light does not blink.

When I JUMP the Theft Deterrent Relay RED & PURPLE wire with the IGNITION KEY in the ON position, it's starts and runs.

There is no volt on the yellow wire, on the Theft Deterrent Relay, with the IGNITION KEY in the ON position.

Did you verify fuse #14 is good?

You can check the voltage at fuse #14 with the key in the START position. BOTH should be battery voltage as well at the yellow wire in the Start position.
Fuse 14 - OK
Took fuse 14 out, and checked for Voltage, in start position.
Also checked yellow wire on TDR, in start position.
NO VOLTAGE.

Nothing but wire between the ignition switch and fuse 14. Seems like it can only be a problem with the switch itself or the connector at the switch if fuse 50 is OK.
Fuse 14, 50, 52 all OK

The ignition switch is new.
Tried the old one again (had a loose connection - but worked).
The car can't crank, with the new or the old ignition switch.

Maybe it's the wire to the connector ? What color, is the wire, going from the switch to fuse 14 ?

Checked the Yellow wire at the ignition switch - NO VOLTAGE.

So, it can only be a bad 'brand new' ignition switch ??

Sooo - problem solved.
Took the old ignition switch and cleaned up the contacts.
Installed it, and the car started right up.

Used Bill's guide:
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ch-repair.html

So the new china crab ignition switch was the problem

Now i'm ready for the Corvette meet, here in Denmark

Took the new switch apart.
Connections was bad, loose spring tension and overall quality was bad.
Cleaned up the contacts., and gave the springs some tension.
I think it will work now, but have not tested it.

Thanks to the two of you for taking time to help, I'm sure it's appreciated by very many, including myself.

Glad to see you got the car up and running! I'm waiting for the storm to pass us by here where I'm located so I can also rebuild my ignition switch.

I almost glossed over that last part; det er da godt at se, at man stadig kan finde en C5 derhjemme! Mvh. en der voksede op lidt udenfor Nastved.

Just wanted to chime in and say thanks to Bill for that post on the ignition switch repair. I had to track down some electrical gremlins in the wife's C5, and that switch proved to be part of the problem.
