Slave cylinder gone out again
Hi I know there is a post about this but I can't find it. So bear with me please. I just put a transmission and clutch in my 99 c5. I put a slave cylinder in awhile ago .but when my tranny went south so did the SC . I had the lifetime warranty on it from auto zone. Got anther now this one is making a growling noise . I didn't measure anything cause I went back stock . Can anyone send me the links to how to shim the SC I think that's what I did wrong . Thanks

did you replace the pilot bearing or is there a chance you might have boogered it up while reinstalling the drivetrain?

Yeah I replaced the bearing . I'm not sure if I got a bad part I know that's possible but it could be something I did . Nothing was in a bind when I put it back together. It only growls when you push in on the clutch pedal that's way I think it's the slave cylinder

it sounds like the throwout bearing and not the actual slave itself... sucks man, that's one reason I hate using cheaper parts in critical areas because it may have a lifetime warranty but they aren't going to reimburse you for the labor it takes to remove and replace it

Yeah I know what you mean I tried to save a buck now I'm going to spend more I'm looking for a better throw out bearing now . My mistake on calling the throw out bearing a slave cylinder sorry about that

see if they will give you a refund and go buy a new gm slave/throwout bearing... I don't believe they sell them separately... hopefully you already have a remote bleeder?

If you need just the release bearing, checkout a Sachs SB1716. It is available as a separate item for under $50.00 from several sources.
Btw, this same bearing is also used by F-Body cars, and other GM vehicles (trucks, etc) as well.
