New setup, curious to where ill be with HP and E.T.
Hey guys im anything but a bench racer, but im curious at what I should be making off this new setup and my excitement is through the roof waiting on the car to get done. Wondering if someone could give me a hand. Id like to know about where ill be at the wheels horsepower wise and quarter mile wise.
So the setup im going to be running is pretty much this, car is a 98 with 43k miles, auto 2.73, existing mods were bassani straight pipes and a vararam bridge and bbk filter.
New mods:
228r Texas Speed Cam, 228/228 .588"/.588 on a 112
799 Heads, stock
PAC 1519 valve springs
LS6 Intake
XSpower Long Tubes,
Yank SS3200 stall
Tunes being done by Houston House of Power
Leaving the Bassani straights for now.
So like i said, just trying to see about where i should be at. Thanks guys!

Leaving the stock gearing? Low 12s. Depending on weather, maybe 11s.
You'll get a better response in the performance section.
Regardless, enjoy the new performance!!
I had a similar setup with a Yank 4000 converter and 3.42 and went 11.05@121 first night out on a base tune.

tune and headers 20hp, ls6 intake 10 to 15hp, cam 20hp, 799's 15hp
should put you over 350rwhp, that stalls really going to wake it up but that 2.73 is going to kill you, a friend had a stock 01 with 2.73 ran 13.2 consistent best was 13.1 you should be mid to low 12's

My set up just off the dyno (SAE corrected) put down 398rwhp/385rwtq. It included the following mods:
TSP 224R 581/581 @ 114
LS6 intake LS1 ported TB and Blackwing CAI
RHS 205cc/62cc heads out of the box unported
XS Power headers/X-pipe/into Ti exhaust with QTP cutouts
So with your 228 cam I would make a guess that you may be in the same neighborhood as mine is a MN6 with 3:42 rear.

Not so out of the question: he is installing a larger cam, Blackwing vs Vararam/BBK filter(moot point on a dyno),heads are not that far apart, already addressed manual vs auto(he has a stall). and gears. But just my opinion.

stalled auto's will not make the same HP on a dyno that a manual car will even if the mods was identical, but the torque numbers should be higher since the engine can get to the power band easier. they might run a similar 1/4 mile time though
in my personal experience, I swapped from a 2.73 to a 3.73 gear in my hotrod truck and shaved 7 tenths off my ET's from just the gear change, even though its stalled that 2.73 vs 3.42 is a huge difference
