Default Thank Goodness for stupid questions

Well, maybe not stupid. OK, I'm a new Corvette owner so I don't know any better. I pulled out the dipstick for the oil to check the oil level and cleanliness of the oil. I noticed the dipstick is twisted? Most dipsticks I see are flat and straight. Is this normal or did someone twist the dipstick? OK, maybe it's a slightly stupid question.

Rough idea? OK... so do I guess if I'm a quart low or do I have to drain the oil and filter and add 6.5qrts to see where my level is? According to my dipstick, it shows "add", I'm guess a quart? How do you know the accurate level? Sorry, I've heard anything like this before and have to laugh.

It works it just frequently smears on the dipstick and makes it hard to read clearly. If it clearly looks low, I would add half a quart and recheck
