Default Retractable headlight makes noise after closing

My 2001 C5 drivers side headlight makes a clicking noise after I close it...It last for 1-2 seconds and stops clicking ... I just got the car and this is the first time I tried the headlights ... Is this normal? or ?

Sounds like you need new gears. Mine did that for a while then stripped the plastic gear to where they stopped working. Brass gears from Rodney Dickman and after 13 years still work perfectly. There is a sticky about the repair, check it out.

Get a kit like this one (pay attention because there are 2 different kits: one for "97 to early 2000" and another for "late 2000 to 2004") and follow these step-by-step directions. You'll save money and they will last forever

You might need these as well.

There is a TSB, that calls for shimming the driver's side motor. The parts needed for this are included in the above mentioned kit.

GM's infernal plastic gear has been stripped in the motor... if you have a basic knowledge of wrench turning its a somewhat easy fix just make sure you replace it with the brass gear
