Turbo or no turbo
Hello i have a stock C5 2002 5.7l and i want some more pep out of her. I dont want crazy more horsepower just an impressive amount. I was thinking 100 to 150 more. I was thinking of a single turbo kit how much would it cost to put a single turbo on my car? And would it be safe. I dont wanna go over $2000 but if someone else knows what i can do to my car besides putting a turbo on it chime in.

If you have to ask how much it's going to cost............
When going forced induction, be prepared to open your wallet and keep it open. LOTS of things need upgrading more than simply bolting on a kit.
When I went twin turbo, it was essentially on an all stock motor. Still cost me $13k after all was said and done, and that was with having EVERYTHING installed for under a grand because the shop wanted a test car for the turbo kit.

Turbo will be hugely expensive for 150HP gain.
If you can fab everything yourself and cut corners [chinese turbos, ect] you might get get away with it but there are better routes to your goal
a good turbo system will run at least 10k by the time you are said and done with all the ancillary things that come up

As others have stated...bolt on's may be the way you want to go.
We did a Vararam CIA, Z06 Ti Exhaust and a Chuck CoW tune...all for about $1000... Nice HP gain, much better throttle response, a tad bit louder at WOT... overall I'm happy with the gains for the dollars I spent... the exhaust and the Vararam were both used bought from fellow forum members...

Pup---Don't believe that each part you buy will show big hp.
This is a advertisement by the vendor.
You need to do ALOT of research.
After you do the research you can then do more research concerning
used parts. If you go that route than you will find that used parts
vary in quality, experience will teach you the good and the bad.
$2000 will get a small amount of hp. Big hp equals big money.
Save up more money and you can go from there, just keep in
mind the miles already on your engine. Is $2000 plus a worthy
investment in your vette?? Only you can answer that question.
Good luck.

Trust me that is being nice..
I assume since you aren't sure how much it is to boost a car is is safe to assume you don't work on cars? The reason I ask is you need to factor in labor for whatever parts you are buying plus tuning. What happened if something breaks are you gonna fix it? Will you have money to pay a shop 100 bucks plus an hour? Will this be a daily driver? WHat happenes if it breaks down and it's your only car do you have teh cash right then and there to fix it? Dont get me wrong it's a great hobby and addiction but unless you have some serious cash or know how to work on your car. Stick with boltons and do as much reading as you can..
See that was nice

If you have an automatic then the biggest seat of the pants improvements you can do are tuning to make the shifts more aggressive, a converter and changing the 2.73 rear gears. This doesn't increase the HP but it will make the car faster. You should be able to find a used 3.42 differential from a manual car. If you find one, get a converter then install both at the same time and then get it tuned.
Now, if you have a standard then that doesn't help much because you can only change the rear gears and you'd most likely have to go new gears.
As for intake and exhaust work - it will make a difference but in my opinion it's nothing very dramatic. Headers and an intake and tuning might get you a 35-40hp improvement which is only 11% so it's really not much of a difference. You'll mostly just notice it because the car will rev a little quicker or just be able to break loose the tires a little easier.
