Default F55 Shocks replace or not replace???

Need some help everyone. 2003 50th Anniversary Coupe shocks are needing to be replaced. $2500+ to replace stock.
Have been looking all weekend trying to figure out what to do. For that kind of $$$ it looks like I can get some very nice adjustable coil overs that would help on track days but need to know if the car will loose the touring ride on the freeway and if I can use my HP Tuners to turn off system codes.
Has anyone done this? If you have can you let me know what you did to your car and are you happy with it?
Thanks ahead of time for any and all suggestions.

I think you can do this same procedure for the F55... then put on whatever shocks you want... I really like the C6 Z06 shocks we just put on for $150

To delete the F-55 RPO Code from the BCM,,, You will need the GM Tech2... Nothing else will communicate with the BCM and allow you to deprogram that option.

If you want good quality used F-55 Shocks, Contact Marc at VETTENUTS.

If you want new F-55 Shocks, at a lot lower price than STEALERSHIP prices, contact Gene Culley or Patrick

Theres a way to simulate the f-55 sensors with barely any expense. Its in the Ultimate DIY or No cost home DIY mod thread on here somewhere. Sorry I don't have the link handy.

He has the link...It's so simple and opens up lots of options... I'm surprised it's not done a LOT!

Many of us have the Tech 2. If you can't find someone to help you do it then a dealership can do it if they don't get hung up on some liability issue.

The option 73Corvette provided works if the shock interface items you need to use are good.

I would not try to keep that design if it were me.

Thanks for the help everyone. I will see if Vette Nuts and some other recycling places have in stock and go from there.
Does anyone know if the adjustable coil overs can give the touring ride you get from the stock shocks?

No.

Front (x2) 19302787 $702.xx ea.
Left Rear 19302788 $548.xx ea.
Right Rear 19302789 $548.xx ea.

Btw, how have you determined that you actually need shocks? Leakage?

I guess I just like hearing myself talk sometimes so here goes...
You want or need new shocks... the F55 is probably a great ride, I don't know because I've never had one... that being said, THEY are expensive to REPLACE... some owners have stated they wished they hadn't ordered the SELECT ride. IF... IF your looking for an inexpensive way to REALLY have a NICE ride... You have been given the information... IT'S not IF the C6 Z06 shocks are a great, inexpensive, bolt on upgrade... IT'S a FACT... they are AWESOME... HOW do i KNOW? I put them on our 04 vert and it's a BIG improvement over the FE1 soft ride suspension...
I didn't have to mess with the select ride sensors and such, but it's not a problem to fix that issue... Sorry it's been a while since I've been on a rant and needed to vent... good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Replaced the MSR shocks on our 03 AE convertible a couple of years ago, with Bilstein Sport shocks. Extremely pleased.

Several threads on the subject, and here is another that detail the Tech 2 procedure:

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...k-options.html

Note that I did not have to disconnect the battery, when decommisioning the BCM code for the MSR, via the Tech 2.

I couldn't find any shocks at all the recyclers I could find on line so I will be giving your idea a try 73 Corvette.
Where did you find your shocks for the C6 Z06? $150 looks really good. I would rather spend the money on getting my seats redone and other upgrades.

Thanks for sounding in LoneStarFRC. All 4 of my shocks are leaking and I lost some height in the front end. I couldn't get my jack under the car like normal so I went to the side rear and lifted it up then let it down and it was back to the normal height. So I figured it's time to replace them. They have 46K on them but they are 13 years old.

Note that you will limited to 80 mph, until you get the MSR shocks removed from the BCM via a Tech 2. You will be constantly reminded of that, via the DIC & chime - even when the "Reset" button is hit, the warning comes back every 10 minutes..........aggravating.

Bought mine from a fellow forum member... put a WTB ad in the C6 parts for sale section. Some sold yesterday for $150... they looked brand new.

LOL!! Everyone wants a product thats good for E V E R Y T H I N G!! That is NOT possible.

All season snow tires. They suck in the snow and they suck for performance!

If you get coil overs, you better like performance. If you want confort,, you better NOT like performance.

The F-45 suspension is the BASE C5 Suspension... It SUCKS for performance. Combined with the F-45 shocks,, you get an adjustable suckey suspension.

Either man up and select a TRUE PERFORMANCE suspension OR keep your BUICK CONFEY Suspension.. I dont get blunt very often but,, I HATE the F-45 CRAP Suspension!!

Just saying..

So what would you suggest?
I was looking for options from people with more experience than myself. I like to take the car to a HPDE weekend 2 or 3 times a year but do not want the car to ride on a weekend cruise like it did before I found and removed the pucks from the stock F-55 shocks on the car now.

We have the F-45 and 55 in stock used however i tell all my customers to get rid of them and install C6 Z06 shocks. We stock the C6 Z shocks new. They will provide a better ride and the car will corner better. You can take out your ride control brain (located in the driver rear storage compartment) and sell it on Ebay for decent money.
