Default Low Oil Level

Driving my car the other day I got the "Low Oil Level" on the DIC. Stopped at auto zone and checked oil. The oil level was at the bottom of the cross hatched marks on the dip stick indicating one quart low. I put a quart in and warning went away. Is this normal for the low oil level warning to come on with one quart low? Also the oil life was at 58% and I had almost 10K since the last oil change. I'm not going to use the oil life indicator anymore. My bad.

Wait, 10k since your last change and it was still at 58%?

something weird happened there, unless you're talking kilometers. Even with kilometers 10k should have you at like 15-25% oil life.

If you were aware that you had 10,000 miles on the oil, you should not be surprised that you are a quart low. I've found the DIC to be a fairly good guide, but use my judgement when changing oil. Are you new to the car and were not aware of the previous oil change, or is this something new that has never happened before. Just curious.

... also just remember, when you change your oil, reset the DIC. Turn the key on, but don't start the car. Then depress the gas pedal 3 times. This resets your DIC for oil back to 100%.
