Default Traction Control Service Soon

I am about 800 miles out from my next oil change and I am getting a Service Traction Control system soon fault and the traction control light stays on, on the dash. I have a 2002, with 44,000 miles on it. Is this something that needs to be done at the dealer or is this something that they will charge me $1,000 and they merely clear a fault or plug in a computer for this?
Thanks,
G

Ok it took me a while to remember how to pull codes and I have a list, hope their not as bad as it looks. Here is what came up for codes.
10 PCM P1518H, P1637H Throttle actuator control, generator terminal
28 TCS C1236H, C1287H Low system supply voltage, steering sensor
AO-LDCM B2282H, B2284H, U1064H Left door control module
A1-RDCM U1064H, U2285H, U2283H Right door control module
BO-RFA C1215H, U1000H, U1255H Left rear TPM, Communication malfunction, serial data line malfunction

I am not sure how any of these affect the traction control module service but I was thniking perhaps from reading information on this site I might have a grounding problem? Possibly in more than one location? Just looking for some good help and advice here please.
Thanks,
G

What is your battery voltage when the engine is running? The EBTCM is the first module to be affected by low voltage and you have an alternator related fault code in the PCM.

Default The next step

Thanks for the advice here. I replaced the battery 3 months back but I didn't think to clear the codes when I did that so these could be old codes from before I switched out the battery perhaps. I get anywhere from 13.1 to 14 volts when the car is running. It's raining outside pretty bad today so hopefully tomorrow I can get out and take a drive after I clear all of these codes. Will post my results after the test drive.
Thanks again.

Okay, so today I went out for a test drive. All codes were cleared before the ride. I checked all codes BEFORE turning the car off as discussed. I did this three separate times during the drive (3 stops) and NO CODES each time. However, while on the freeway at 70 MPH, and approximately 1500 RPM, Active Handling flashed across the display and a brief drop in momentum (like tapping the brakes) happened. Twice I noticed this. Not sure what is going on here but even after these two incidents, I still have No Codes. Anyone have any ideas? I also checked voltage while idling I have 14.1 volts if that helps.
Thanks,
G

Front Tire Goodyear Eagle F1 245/45/ZR17
Rear Tire Goodyear Eagle F1 275/40/ZR18

I run between 30 and 32 PSI in all four tires.

Can you provide me with any more info on location, is this a DIY remove and replace item? Can I buy a used one or should I replace with a new one? Or any other info that might help me out.
Thanks,
G

I would NOT drive with the Active Handling ON until you get that figured out... there have been cases where the brakes on one side have LOCKED up and jerked the car into the other lane... could be deadly............................

But, I never drive with my AC/TC on anyway...

I truly appreciate all your help with this and direction in getting this all worked out. I will have to double check and make sure the wheel is centered when driving down the freeway and continue to monitor codes as you have suggested.
Thanks again,
will post more info as I get it.

Had the same symptoms on my 04. It was the SWPS going out. Took awhile for the codes to show up. The GM part # is 88965543 and it cost me $63.83. Takes about 2.5 to 3 hours to replace. Pretty scary driving along at 70 mph and having the car pull to the side quickly. Replaced it and all is as it should be now.

I don't want to beat a dead horse here, but I have started searching around and I have found this SWPS sensor at RockAuto.com for $69. I figure for that price I will just order one and replace it to be on the safe side. However, I would like to see if anyone has the removal and install instructions for this part. I can see it is inside the end of the steering column and many have said it is a two to three hour job which is fine. I would just like to see the installation instructions to see if I need any special tools and if I can do this or should I have the dealer do it to be safe. I am a 20 year retired Air Force jet engine mechanic so I have some skills as a mechanic. Thanks for all the assistance with this.

I believe I just googled how to replace a SWPS on a corvette and I found the directions. I have a friend who is a corvette mechanic so I had him replace it for me. Did not want to mess with the airbag on the steering wheel. I know it can be done in your garage though with just standard tools. The codes that did finally showed up where C1287 and/or C1288. Hope this helps.
