Default Best Company to buy a Cam from?

Im trying to figure out who is the best to get a cam from. Im noticing that a lot of people steer away from Comp cams because they had a soft batch of Cams a while back. What company has a good rep when it comes to buying cams? Ive noticed that some use different metals. Any help would be great.

I think the comp issues are way in the past.

There are many vendors on this sits that can help stear you in the right direction. Most people just buy a cam off the shelf from these vendors. And, in 99% of the installations it's perfectly acceptable. The only real need for a custom spec cam is for a purpose built engine/car.

Now, if you ask what cam specs are best, then this thread could go on forever because there are a zillion different thoughts on what is the "best" cam.

Good luck with your goals.

Yeah Im not asking for the best cam specs. More who has the best cam metal I guess. Some are billet some are not. Ive also read that some people who cut cams actually check them/measure them while other people don't at all and they can be out of spec to what you actually think your getting.

As for the specs of the cam. To me it doesn't really make sense to get an off the shelf $400 cam when you can get a custom spec'd cam to my setup for the same price. Or are they more expensive now?

http://www.cammotion.com/

Search out LS1 Tech some very good results & information regarding these guy's.

My last 3 or 4 cams have been Comp with no issue other than an incorrect grind which was handled with no pain. Getting the rest of the Valve train is where many problems are created.

Im guessing you had to physically measure it yourself to find out it was a bad grind?

Also I swear I read somewhere about one person you can order cams from who verifys they are what you orderd before you get it. Anyone know?

Also I asked this in another thread but couldn't get an Answer. Is billet steel better then the rest? Arent OEM cams billet also?
