1998 C5 Corvette gas gauge issue
When my 1998 C5 Corvette gas gauge gets to 3/4 of a tank, it drop to empty, with a message to check the gauges. When the tank is about 1/2 full, then sometimes the gauge will register that it has a 1/2 tank and work down to empty. It seems that it might be the float in the fuel tank... has any one experienced this problem and how did you fix it? I would appreciate some help. thanks.

Techron added to the gas has worked for a number of owners having problems with the gas gauge reading correctly.

I pulled the jet pump and sender out of the passenger tank and cleaned them with white vinegar and a brush (gently). Blew air through the lines and pump and put it back in the tank. Ran 2 bottles of Techron and it hasn't done it again for a year. Maybe just the Techron will solve it but I wanted to get a look at the sender and pump. If you go the route I did, look up the sticky on how to safely drain the tank and don't over tighten the bolts! Be safe, Rod
