G5x3 or torquemax stage 3
Opinions on the g5x3 114 lsa vs torquemax stage 3 cam. I am keeping the stock ls6 heads, intake for now. Does anyone know if I will have to cut the pistons for the torquemax stage 3?

Just a FYI, the G5X3 is rather hard on your valve springs. If it is a daily you will be replacing them every year. It does make good power though, I had one for a while.

My son put a Tick SNS 3 in his 01 Firebird. Tick assured us the PTV was safe with unmilled heads. They were just ported 243's so we assumed it was OK. It blew up during the dyno tune, and trashed the entire motor. When opened up, we discovered heavy PTV interference had caused the failure.
Tick assured us this was a fluke, and hundreds of cars running it with success. Bad luck? I dunno. This taught us to check PTV no matter what, and don't believe what they say will work without checking it. A bad grind or other unknown can lead to huge disappointment.
With all that said, we rebuilt with another SNS3, flycut pistons, AI heads and made 428/386 thru A4. It's a rowdy cam and gets alot of attention.

I appreciate the heads up. I would rather not take that chance, so I'm probably going with the g5x3. They are very similar and I'm sure I will be happy with it

The G5X3 on a 112 or 114 LSA will clear with stock LS1 or LS6 heads and stock head gaskets with NO NEED to fly cut.
We do suggest 921 valve springs, which we include in our kits when you order it that way. Valve spring replacement should be done depending on how the car is used but we still do not suggest over 30k miles on a set.
If you have any questions I would be more than happy to answer.
