Service history
#2
I did that before buying it. I had the carfax with the vin and called the dealer on the carfax (not the dealer that was selling the car). Spoke to the service manager and he knew the owner and car. Verified some things and explained a few more. I went ahead with the purchase based upon this info. Next time I may buy from that dealer.

You can register your cars vin at the gm owner center website. The website will post your vehicles service history that was provided at a Chevrolet, and I believe any GM dealership. Not sure how soon that update is posted (hours/days). I think it also includes all the service records before and after the GM bankruptcy period time frames.

You won't get any service history about whatever was done at an independent mechanic or garage, or dealer other than GM, or by a previous owner, unless he wrote it all down everytime he worked on his own car.

You should be able to get the information that was done under warranty and perhaps anything that may have been entered into the GM system. Worth a shot from your local dealer.
