Default Advice needed from those who have installed XSPower LT Headers

I received a set of XSPower LT headers, x pipe and cats a week or so ago and they look like jewelry. Cannot beat the price.

I am now in the process of installing them and have hit a snag - well, a bell housing tab, frame lip and batwing oil pan! The passenger side is in and the starter is also back in the car, which from the reviews is the most difficult part to do. Well, for me the drivers side just will not get into place. The header is hitting the batwing oil pan, a bell housing tab and / or a lip extension on the frame. Have lifted the motor, contorted it into many angles and it just will not budge. Short of getting out a big hammer and persuading it into position, it appears that the tab and / or frame must be shaved. Is this correct? If so, how much of the bell housing can safely be shaved (see red circle in picture), without damaging it? Anyone installed these with a manual or z06 without shaving or cutting anything? Looking for any advice from those who have successfully installed them.

How much did you cut? Until smooth with the bell housing?

What in the world is that tab for, other than causing the headers to hang up on installation! HA...

Didn't try that. The cradle does not seem to be the problem.

I have a theory of what is going on. The automatic BH is very different than the manual and after looking at the two side by side, I think those with the auto, the headers will clear. Those with a manual, the tab must be cut. The angle and position of the tab in question is very different between the two. Theory only, so open to thoughts.

I tried and tried and seeing the tab had no real purpose (casting tab) I just cut it off and the header went right in !!!!!!!!!

Yep, that is certainly the consensus from you and others who have PM'd me. Time for some cutting / shaving! Thanks for the advice.

What do you think about the auto vs. manual theory?

When I installed my headers, I removed the plugs and wires, got the car up at least 20" off of the ground, and pushed the header straight up with the collector pointing to the ground. i did not have to remove any pieces of the engine. BTW I have a six speed.
