Default What is the Best HEADS / CAM COMBO for the STREET?

Car is not a daily.

63k miles
ls1
kooks headers and catless mid
c5z ti
SLP intake
Street Tune
otherwise stock

Looking to make fat street power - what is the best heads / cam package to do so at a reasonable price?

Dont want: Car to die at lights, cold start issues, etc - must be "reliable"
Do want: I like CHOP.

I think you need to specify what HP and Torque you are looking for.

I like either AFR, TEA heads with 230-240 cam with .600 lift and Fast 102 intake. Tried and true.

Another factor to consider with your cam is whether you have a manual or automatic transmission.

Manul transmission.

Power goals of ~420-450 rwhp.

Not trying to spend the kind of money associated with AFR / TEA. Think more budget like 243's

Send 243 to Advanced Induction (AI) for their CNC package. You can then have AI spec a matching cam, or call someone like Martin@Tick or Brian Tooley Racing for a cam.

I made > 450 wheel with a 232/236 cam and AI 243 heads. A smaller cam would have gotten more mid range, 228/232 would have been nice. This was before I researched cams alot.

Even if you don't want to purchase any products from TEA, their CNC program for the 243's is awesome. You cant really go wrong with AI or TEA for 243 porting. Like mentioned above, give Brain Tooley, or Martin Tick a call for a custom grind for the power you are searching for. If your shooting for 450, you may want a FAST intake to compliment the heads. A stock LS6 flows well too, but just something to consider if your wanting all you can get.

If budget minded I would also check out Texas Speed and their selection of heads. I'm currently in the same boat. I'm looking for heads and cam. There are so many options its insane. Good Luck!

Same heret - 6m, ti cat back with a cold air. Looking for long tubes/cam/heads combo with the focus on remaining streetable. Looking for peak power not too much past 6,000 RPM. Please update this thread post project - I'm curious to hear what you went with and the results. Cheers!
