Heck yea! No problems yet for mine but this is the best post of the year!

Edit- wonder if the procedure is the same for 98- since we have the "older" style PCMs... but even those can be changed. If there's a will there's a way... great work regardless.

OP, thanks for doing this. I suspected that this would work but didn't have a way to prove it. The EBCM (w/ AH) in my 2000 vert is working just fine at the moment. I just want to be ready just in case so I started collecting the parts. Do you, or anybody else, know if the EBCM's are the same for 2001 thru 2004? I thought they were until I looked on Rock Auto. They list p/n 10343433 for 2003 & 2004. They list p/n 12216561 for 2001 & 2002. On Ebay, I see ECBM modules labeled as PB (03 & 04), SB (01 & 02), and SF (03 Z06). The BPMV is the same for all 4 years, p/n 10343432.

If anyone is collecting parts, I just ordered the mounting bracket on eBay for $26 shipped. Seller has 5 more available.

Mods, can this thread be stickied? This is rather important stuff and pretty worthy.

Yes, I doubt any business would undertake this conversion - the liability, if it does not work absolutely perfectly under all circumstances, is just too great. All it needs is one accident where a converted vehicle did not behave the way the lawyers thought it should to trigger a huge lawsuit.

If someone just provided a kit of parts for a source-it-youtself late model EBCM, it would most likely get them off the liability hook. No different from other brake kits that are sold.

The real pity is that GM will not step up and specify what is needed for a conversion. By the way, imagine what will happen 10-15 years down the road when that trick diff. in your C7 goes on the fritz......

I look forward to hearing of others successes and cementing the procedure. Actual labor cost could then be more accurately predicted...Congrats to the OP you just may end up on the wall of fame at the NCM! (you get my vote!)

While there are multiple part numbers for the EBCMs for 2001 - 2004, I did not see any difference in the schematics over the same years.

In fact, on my car I used the FSM schematic for a 2002 and the EBCM off a 2004 (PB). No issues.

Just find the best deal that you can on a late model EBCM & BPMV.

Great responses, but still not an everyday easy fix available. And specialty corvette shops won't attempt? We still have the paddle in our hand. I've read ever thread so far, but what about those people that own a '97?

There has to be a way to convince GM to resolve. We have how many people on this forum?

After I posted the original thread, I went out to detail my car and just came. What a great, fantastic car!!!!!

If I learned of something like this on a specific critical part for a C1 or C2, I'd donate!

I once asked this question to our local GM rep here on the forum...this was the response:https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ket-parts.html

We may be on the only available track at this time...

Hey OP......operational question for you. I'm curious....does your Competition Mode activate while moving now or do you still have to be at 5 MPH or under to activate it?

As someone who has just recently started looking for my first C5, this is wonderful news. All the posts I have read that talked about the 98-00 EBCM issues really were discouraging for me. This changes everything.

As a 2000 owner w/AH, this is what I was hoping for. Great work.

I will have to check. I have the LapTrax box installed on mine - and it works just as it did before the conversion.
