Default 02 Z06 What are the best Plugs and wires to use

I have an 02 Z06 and am trying to decide the best plugs and wires for the money to give the most performance possible. I have been told that NGK TR6 are the plus to get but what wires are the best bang for the buck? DO I need socks for the wires or is that necessary?

I have found these:
http://sdparts.com/i-21034734-msd-32...ark-plugs.html

http://www.coloradospeed.com/spark-p...s-p-37890.html

http://www.jdpmotorsports.com/taylor...ls9-tay-ti0121

I plan on doing some road course events but not a full blow race car.

I'm having the valve springs done and figure that I might as well do the plugs and wires too.
Any other advice you can give is welcome.

PLAIN & SIMPLE! Plugs and wires DO NOT add any more performance that what the car came with from the factory! PERIOD!

Purchase plugs for service longevity and wires for quality materials.

RECOMMEDATIONS for Plugs. AC Delco Iridium plugs.

Spark Plug Wires: GM Performance RED Wires

Contact Gene Culley for the wires. A complete set =approx. $65. Fit Form Function and quality materials set these apart as one of the best.

GM RED PERFORMANCE WIRES:

They have the proper hardware to SNAP into the ciol tower and onto the plug and stay attached!

I do say each plug is unique and you can feel a slight difference. Not saying HP or tq wise but fuel efficient and or a cleaner burn.

When I switched back to the denso from NGK I did notice denso are more stable.

NGK is rough but still good plugs, just depends on what you're looking for.

Have them on my car and they work very well.

I agree with Bill A lo to do about nothing when it comes to plug selection and wires
When running long tubes yes you may want to install a wire that is more heat resistant
But on your car there is no HP advantage in wire selection other than quality of the product
My experience says that the GM performance wire set is the best choice ( red wires)
When in comes to plugs---
All these new plugs with alternate materials are made just to get more $$ out of your pocket---There is NO HO advantage---YES they may last longer--but most Corvettes aren't driven 50K miles a year so the basic copper core plug is your best choice
I like the NGK's the best------As a racer they are the eaisest plugs to read if you know how to read them and they will still last 30K miles
They only thing to be concerned about with plugs is getting the correct heat range
Too cold and the plugs will tend to foul ----too hot and thry tend to not last long--But again no HP advantage----- The best choice for most N/A engines is the NGK TR55 gapped at .040 ---This is the best all round plug---The only time I would change from these would be for a BOOSTED engine or a NOS engine--or an engine with higher than stock compression ratio--This would call for a somewhat colder plug like a TR6--again gapped at .040

Looks like Gene's are $130 for the wires, if I did the search correct?
http://www.cultragfactoryparts.com/c...=plug-wire-set

At this point I might as well run the MSD, from what everyone is saying wires are wires and these are $75 shipped with plugs.

I use Taylor wires on my 02Z. They have served me well. And they are less than $100. I also run the NGK TR55 plugs.

Or if you want red wires

NO! You looked at the WRONG wires. I will find his SPECIAL FORUM post on all the sale prices and post it...

I would run MSD if you gave them to me! They Are less durable and the BOOTS tear very easily!

I looked for Gene's ADD for the wires and performance parts and didn't see it.

Please call him. Him and Patrick are great people and easy to deal with.

A local shop that is respected sponsored vendor was using the GMPP red wires when I did wires on my truck. They said there was no performance gain in MSD, Taylor etc, and suppression was better for radio reception.

I have run Taylor, MSD, and GMPP on various vehicles. I had a problem with the boots tearing off when the Taylors were removed (on a LT1 and LS1 set), never a problem with MSDs. I have one GMPP which liked to get a little loose on a spark plug.

I agree with the NGK TR55s. I run the regular coppers but the car does have heads, cam, and will see track time so I am not concerned about changing plugs more often. Can't go wrong with NGK, or the Delco mentioned by Bill.

I contacted Patrick directly and got the exact items Bill recommended. The only thing I should have asked for is Teflon skin and triple jointed wrists and arms

Been using their KV85's for years. Excellent wires. It's a Canadian company and it's ALL they make; no boxes, coils, caps, rotors, magic potions, etc.
