Default Check engine lite, I have the codes, what to fix??

Ok, My 2003 got check engine, pulled all the history codes, deleted them, then went 10 mi. came back this is the new code

P0442 - "Evaporative emissions (EVAP) systemSmall leak detected PCM engine controls"

this was one of the codes that was in history.

I know PCM is the power train module under the batt. but what would be the issue and the fix ??

I checked gas cap and made sure it was tight

Jim

Check your gas cap seal.

so this code is usually associated with the gas cap, not the 50 ft of rubber hoses under the hood that might have a hair line crack somewhere?

I sure would rather replace the cap than attempt to track down a hose leak.

It could very well be SOMETHING ELSE but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ITS VERY VERY VERY common to have a deteriorated gas cap O ring in the cap.

Examine the O ring... I bet its all cracked and chewed up! Pop off the cap and look.

Beeeeeeeeen there and seen that,

BC
