Clutch Care info
Gents,
A good friend of mine sent me this article after some clutch issues we had while making some hard passes on the Vette. It answered a lot of questions for me.
This was probably shared on here before, but i figured it's worth sharing.
Hope it helps someone out there.
Will definitely be keeping an eye on this in the future.

I'm not a fan of that method, if your fluid is that bad it needs to be completely flushed from the slave... a remote bleeder is a must have for any 6spd c5

Yea I checked mine yesterday it was disgusting. Lots of black crap In the resevoir, I do have a remote bleeder so that's getting flushed Totaly out tonight. Really didn't even think about checking it regularly.
I plan on bleeding it like I u would a brake system untill the fluid is clear

I read a tip somewhere that the bellhousing area was cleaned and they took off their plastic covers by the starter and oil filter. Then they opened up the two vent holes in the bellhousing lower. They Article mentioned that the GTO's had no vents and they went through clutches faster than the C 5 's mostly because of the heat ???? When I installed my headers I didn't think it would help but I used brake clean and cleaned out the housing area, and instead of leaving my covers off I drilled holes in them, and opened up my vent holes. I don't know if I added more life in my clutch or not. A side note I did use the Ranger method ( my fluid was dark) twice in a months time. Since then almost 15,000 miles my fluid remains clear !!! (I also am not hard a clutch)

I try not to be too hard on my clutch, but i find myself playing around redline a little too often.

tpe, it is the best bleeder I have seen for these cars but unfortunately they went out of business a few years ago and they are hard to come by... I'm surprised no one has built one off of their design... believe it or not I was able to install it with my drivetrain intact
