Why is there a leak at my thermostat now?
Just switched to a 160* t-stat. Now I have a leak at the t-stat housing.
I probably misaligned the o-ring seal. So what is the "trick" to getting this to align and seal correctly?
Any other tips/warnings?
I would never have guessed this was difficult.

a very small dab of red rtv gasket maker on a few places around the o-ring will hold it in place... by small I mean like a pinhead, just enough to get it tacky and make the o-ring stay in place

That will work, however I was going to suggest rubbing the o-ring with a LIGHT coating of grease, which will accomplish the same thing. I spent many years working in the vacuum coating industry, and our vacuum chambers all had DOZENS of O-rings, as part of their "standard equipment". Sometimes I think I could say that I have a PHd in O-rings...........
