Default Fixed my HVAC backlight, but....

Finally got around to touching up the HVAC display with the soldering gun. Display looks great and normal now. Since the display was dead I never paid attention to it, but now I realize some of the buttons and ***** are out. Now I'm 99% sure they were out before I went at it with the solder, so I don't believe it was a product of that. It's just I never cared because I had no reason to look at a black display.

Can these lights be replaced? If so how? Part number for bulb? Will provide picture when I can, phone crashes every time I try to upload.

All of the lamps behind the buttons can be replace. They are soldered in. Here is a link to the description of the lamp.

If you need help with the replacement let me know. I have done several of these and have converted some to LED lighting.

I may take you to task for that. May as well replace all to led if I have to replace most anyhow. Is there a part number for an led conversion? Is it as simple as just soldering an led?

Here is the definitive thread on converting the interior lighting in a C5 to LED, https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...od-thread.html

The recommendation in this thread for the HVAC is to use 5mm LEDs. I prefer to use 3mm LEDs. The following is what I recommend:

14 Warm White 3mm LEDs
14 560 ohm .25 Watt (This is the proper value. Most sites do not account properly for the operating voltage of the car. They all assume 12v when in reality under running conditions it is 13.5 to 14.1 in normal conditions.)

This is one of the good places to get the LEDs, https://www.oznium.com/led

Here is the link to the needed resistors.

I would get a few extra LEDs and resistors just in case.

I just changed mine last night. It took about 1.5 hours. The McMaster carr bulbs are brighter than the radio bulbs. Make sure you have a solder sucker to make the job a lot easier and faster.
