C5 failed shocks valiadation
Hi All,
So I am very unhappy with my shocks on my C5. Performance and control are not good. I decided to by new shock from Cultrag. the Z06 shocks. I removed the rears tonight. Once they were off, I noticed that the shaft does not move or it stay where ever i push the piston too. Every shock I have ever replaced and or new ones always want to extend. My old ones don't move at all. I wanted to know if that is by design with the magnetic ride control or if they have completely failed. I am changing them anyway, but I would also feel better knowing they have completely failed.
I already put on the Z06 sway bar and linkage. hoping new shocks allow me to drive like I used too.
Thanks All

I'm confused.. The NEW ZO6 shocks should have very high pressure inside and the shaft should require significant force to collapse the rod into the shock. They should extend with a very controlled force when released. I had to wire mine collapsed to make installation easier and cut the wire once they were in place.
If you had the F-45 system, how or what did you do to the system so that you don't get messages and speed limitations?????????

I fully understand all of that but, Im not sure that the OP does. Just checking.. I've removed several F-45 RPOs from friends BCMs!

I am talking about the F45 shocks not the Z06. I have not received the Z06 shocks yet. I am putting in resistors to start to stop the error code. I found a guy on Ebay that sells 2 sets for $40.

You mention magnetic ride and F45 - which is it? 2003 and later had F55 (mag ride) available - prior to that, it was F45 only which is electronic ride control but not magnetic. The two systems are significantly different in operation. I had F45 in my 2002 before removing them for coilovers and also have magnetic ride in my C7, which I absolutely love, btw.
