Default Value of 6-Speed Core?

I lost the second gear syncro in my 2000 C5. I ended up getting a new transmission instead of getting mine rebuilt. Now I have an extra broken transmission. What do i with it? I don't know where I can get it rebuilt. What is it worth as-is with 115,000 miles? Are the parts worth more than the complete transmission? It makes a good door stop but it's a little overkill for that job. Thoughts anybody? Thanks!

Guessing only... what you'll pay to rebuild, just to sell, will lose you $. There are plenty of used base model 6Spds out there in good condition if someone needs a replacement. Do you have a real big door?

I went through this exact dilemma last month and was kind of surprised at how hard it was to get rid of. I posted mine up on craigslist for $400 and it took a few months to sell. Eventually I settled for $250 bucks. I figured someone who rebuilds transmissions would have a good profit margin on a vette core since they seem to go for $1500-2000 when rebuilt properly. I offered to sell it to my rebuild-guy but he said because of the unique design he would have trouble finding a buyer (unlike other t56's that fit in everything). Personally I think my local demand in Houston is better than he was giving it credit for.

As someone else said, by the time you rebuild it for $1500, you aren't going to make any more money off of it than selling it as a core and letting someone else do the rebuild.

It's good to know what they have gone for. I've seen used ones for $600 on Craig's list around here so I figured broken was about half that. I ended up with a brand new one for $2400 and I didn't mine spending a little more for new. Is it stupid to ask how hard they are to rebuild? I'm assuming it's a PITA like everything else.

find a trans shop that works with tremecs and they would likely buy it for parts... some of the gears are getting hard to come by and you can get decent money if they are in good shape... I put a tr6060 in my car and the guy that built it opened up my c5z trans and nearly all of it was in good enough shape for him to use in a rebuild for someone else, he ended up giving me a grand off the parts/labor of my new trans in trade for my old trans
